Most lawyers have been there:

  • It's Sunday night, and you're preparing for Monday's trial when you realize you're missing a document. You search your emails, faxes, and folders…nothing.

  • You're in mediation, and opposing counsel claims you never sent the medical record(s), so they were not considered. And it will take another month to "evaluate."

  • Opposing counsel claims they served affidavits/counter-affidavits, which you've never seen. The deadline to file/respond has passed, and your stomach drops.

  • A colleague has left the firm, and you've taken over their docket. They didn't keep up with the files, and you can't tell what was produced, received, by who, or when.

  • Opposing counsel serves responses electronically. You didn't see or click the "link" in time. Now it's expired, and they're not responding.

  • You need to serve several files, but e-serve file type and size limitations mean spending time breaking large files down into smaller ones. And hoping they all go through.

  • You've been added to an ongoing case with multiple parties and have to rely on them to send you everything that's been produced over months or years.

Litigation is stressful enough without having to rely on antiquated and unreliable methods of trading and tracking discovery. Failed document and file exchanges lead to frustration, wasted productivity, and lost revenue.

Fortunately, LitX now offers a streamlined, convenient, HIPAA-compliant, and secure workspace for exchanging documents and files between opposing parties.

LitX eliminates the chaos and empowers attorneys and legal staff by allowing for real-time service of discovery while centralizing all legal documents and files into a shared and verifiable record. Exchanged information never "expires" and remains securely preserved, stored, and accessible to all parties for the life of the case.

Keep reading to learn how LitX can help you spend more time on winning cases and less on the paper chase.

How Ineffective "Document Management Systems" Are Holding You Back

Current document management systems are clunky, outdated, and don't live up to their promises. They lead to failed service, inefficiency, wasted time, and data breaches, leaving your firm and client vulnerable.

Despite guarantees from programs to "provide it all," attorneys are often forced to develop unreliable workarounds to share a file with opposing counsel. Millions of dollars worth of unrecoverable and non-billable time are spent by attorneys and staff every year in the civil litigation system, simply managing documentation exchanges and disputes arising from failures; time better spent generating additional revenue.

LitX has identified the problems prevalent in "document management systems" and designed a solution for attorneys and legal assistants in civil litigation.

The Cumbersome Process of Storing, Sending, and Retrieving Documents

Current methods of exchanging documents during the lifecycle of a case fall short. They often require you to sift through email chains, re-request expired links, chase green cards and fax confirmations, and burn time searching for the latest supplemental version of documents.

Further aggravating the problem, many programs don't allow sharing large files or files of a particular type requiring you to implement make-shift and unreliable methods or rely on the old, time-consuming, and cumbersome ways. While some systems, like SharePoint, Dropbox, and others, claim to solve this problem, they all under-deliver. Links expire, information disappears, control is one-sided, and there is no record that parties can rely on.

Unsafe and Vulnerable Methods of Communication

The LitX platform employs advanced security rules and complies with other regulations governing Protected Health Information ("PHI") that require data to be secure while both at rest and "in transit," meaning actively moving between a sender and a destination. This rule can include sharing PHI between two attorneys via email or other software, transmitting to cloud storage, or transmitting between central servers and mobile devices.

While email is a quick and easy way to communicate electronically, it is not necessarily secure. Most email service providers only comply with HIPAA requirements if you enter into a separate agreement that they will provide HIPAA-compliant encryption, which usually comes at an additional cost. Even services that encrypt messages in transit may not have the required level of security to make them HIPAA compliant. To make your email HIPAA compliant, you must have end-to-end encryption, which encrypts messages in transit and stored.

The truth is that most current platforms don't provide secure communication. Unreliable and insecure methods of exchanging documents also increase the risk of inadvertent disclosure, such as sending the material to the wrong email address, fax number, or physical address.

LitX is pursuing HIPAA compliance and has designed the platform to follow that standard. One more way LitX makes your life easier.

Inefficient Methods of Complying with Discovery Requirements

Failure to fulfill disclosure requirements because of reliance on a flawed process can be disastrous for your client and their case. But finding an efficient method that seamlessly allows you to share diverse information across file types can be challenging. This is where LitX comes in.

LitX: Your Litigation Workspace for Optimized Document Sharing and Management

LitX is the future of document and file exchange, presenting a unique and streamlined way for parties to trade and view case documents during litigation. Rather than piecemealing competing methods together, LitX is a single destination where adversarial parties can share, view, and download all case materials.

No more hunting down records or emailing opposing counsel to ask them to resend the document. With LitX, it's all in one place.

Verifiable Record of Discovery Documents

Tracking documents and materials exchanged between your office and opposing counsel can be challenging. LitX provides a simple solution, empowering you to upload, download, track and manage the sharing of these case files.

LitX also allows you to verify what files you sent or received and verify permissions and access.

A Central Docket to Send, Receive, and Manage Files

Many law firms struggle to efficiently organize documents exchanged with opposing counsel and clients. With LitX, everything is in one secure, easy-to-access place in a secure cloud.

LitX preserves exchanged documents and files in their original state. Much like traditional service methods (mail, e-service, email, etc.), once uploaded onto LitX, documents and files cannot be changed, removed, or edited without the permission of all parties. In other words, the original document is left untouched, preserved for all time.

This valuable feature ensures the case file is always complete.

Equal Document Access

In an adversarial system, mitigating any unnecessary points of contention brings significant value. LitX gives all parties equal access and control to documents and files. All parties have the convenience of keeping all discovery documents and files centralized in the cloud with the same privileges. By providing equal control with built-in accountability, opposing parties can efficiently work together in a trusted, neutral space, eliminating much of the friction inherent in the litigation process.

Affordable Price

LitX understands that keeping your overhead expenses low is important. Rather than burdening you with another high-cost subscription, LitX charges a monthly rate of $12 per user and $1 per case. As with many litigation-related expenses, you can expel the minimal cost of LitX back to the file, meaning there is minimal-to-no cost to adding the LitX advantage to your practice.

Get Started Using LitX with Two Steps

Setting up an account and getting the program running is simple. You can start implementing the service into your practice in two easy steps.

Start Your Free Trial

To use LitX, navigate to LitX's website and enter basic information to create a log-in. LitX then sends you a link to start your free trial. To create additional users within your firm, follow this same process. As an added layer of security, LitX always turns on two-factor authentication to ensure bad actors cannot easily access your sensitive documents.

Create Cases

Once you log in to your account, LitX will ask you to view and sign the EULA. You can then immediately start loading cases. To open a case, LitX will ask you for the cause number, court assigned, and the parties' names. Users can create an unlimited number of cases.

Guest Access

LitX subscribers can invite opposing counsel by simply sending an invitation to the case. Opposing counsel is automatically given Guest Access, allowing you to share documents with opposing counsel, even if they aren't a LitX subscriber. This vital feature ensures that those needing access to the case documents can easily access them. And they can upgrade their subscription at any time should they choose to do so.

Although Guest Access users have the same ability to download, upload, and share documents on the case to which they have been invited, they are only able to add cases of their own if they subscribe.

Imagine a work day where you spent time doing what you do best instead of chasing paper. LitX is changing how attorneys communicate, send, receive, and manage cases. We welcome you to join the growing LitX community and discover what LitX can do for you.
